Mr. Ernie Echidna is a shy but friendly chap, known for his gentle nature and steady dedication to his work.
He spends most of his days digging through the rich Ol' Gum Gully soil, tending his bustling ant farm with quiet pride. Life on the ant farm can be tiring - Ernie works long hours and his trademark muddy overalls usually tell the story.
A fairly solitary fellow by nature, Ernie enjoys the peaceful rhythm of working alone. But when special occasions roll around he’s always glad to join the community.
Ernie never makes much fuss about what he does; he simply gets on with the job and takes pride in doing it well.
Mrs. Elsie Echidna
Mrs. Elsie Echidna is Ol' Gum Gully's favourite cook, famous for her warm kitchen, generosity and delicious home-cooked meals.
When wonderful smells drift through the gum trees, Bushies know Elsie is probably busy creating another treasured recipe.
Curious and creative, Elsie can often be found experimenting with recipes and recording her latest culinary discoveries. Her collection of recipe books has become well known, with many Bushies keen to learn her secrets.
Whether she's preparing a hearty family meal or testing a brand-new creation, Elsie approaches every recipe with enthusiasm and care.
Elsie never keeps a good recipe to herself. If it's a family favourite or a brand-new ant dish, she's always happiest when there's someone to share it with.
Master. Eddie Echidna
Eddie Echidna is an adventurous young Bushie with a playful spirit and endless energy.
Always eager to be outside exploring, Eddie loves turning ordinary days into exciting adventures around Ol' Gum Gully.
He especially loves playing sport with his young mates Paddy and Andy. Whether they're racing, kicking a ball or making up games of their own, Eddie is always ready to jump straight into the action and give everything a go.
Though adventure often calls his name, Eddie is also a cheerful and loyal friend. He’s also known among the grown-ups for his good manners and never forgetting a please or thank you.
His enthusiasm and sense of fun make every day feel a little more exciting.
Miss. Evie Echidna
Evie Echidna is a clever and thoughtful young Bushie with a quiet nature and a curious mind.
Naturally shy, Evie is most content with a good book, happily disappearing into stories and adventures of her own.
She loves learning new things and often notices details others miss. Fascinated by the creatures of the bush, she spends hours reading about native birds, reptiles and insects and quietly observing them whenever she can.
Her curiosity and love of learning recently helped her win the Ol' Gum Gully Science Talent Search, an achievement that made her family and friends enormously proud.
Evie shows that great ideas often come from those who take the time to listen, learn and look a little closer.
