Mr. Walter Wombat
Mr. Walter Wombat or Wally to his mates, is the resident loveable rogue… the kind of bloke everyone wants to pull up a camp chair beside.
With a jolly belly laugh that carries across Ol’ Gum Gully and a grin that rarely leaves his face, Wally lives life slow, sunny and full of good humour.
He’s never happier than when he’s sharing a yarn with his best mates Cookie and Keith, feet in the dirt and a bottle of his famous Womba Brew in hand. (A strictly ‘locals only’ recipe that Wally guards tighter than a wombat guards his burrow.)
Easygoing, warm-hearted and always ready with a joke, Wally is the unofficial good-times ambassador of the Bushfolk community.
If there’s laughter ringing through the gum trees, chances are Wally’s at the centre of it.
Mrs. Vonnie Wombat
Mrs. Vonnie Wombat is the dependable heart of the Wombat family, known throughout Ol' Gum Gully for her patience and caring nature.
Happiest with her hands in the garden and sunshine on her face, Vonnie finds joy in life's quieter moments and the simple beauty of the bush.
As Ol' Gum Gully's much-loved school teacher, Vonnie spends her days helping young Bushies learn, grow and discover the world around them. She also loves tending her little patch of bushland and looking after the creatures and plants around her.
Vonnie believes good things take time. It's an approach that serves her just as well in the classroom as it does in the garden.
Master. Willy Wombat
Willy Wombat is a cheerful young Bushie with a big imagination and an independent streak. He is happiest with dirt under his paws and an idea in his head.
Proud of his burrow and always busy creating games and secret hideaways, Willy loves figuring things out for himself and can happily spend hours digging, building or practising a new yo-yo trick until he gets it right.
His mates Joey James and Raffy are often drawn into whatever Willy is working on, usually without needing much convincing. He likes having them along, but is just as happy disappearing into a project of his own.
Loyal to his family and friends, Willy is never too busy with his latest idea to make time for the people he loves.
Miss. Wendy Wombat
Wendy Wombat is a curious little explorer, always eager to uncover hidden treasures and tiny mysteries around the bush.
With her satchel over her shoulder and eyes full of wonder, Wendy can happily spend hours searching through the dirt and forgotten corners of Ol' Gum Gully. She notices details other Bushies walk straight past, especially when she's out exploring with her friends Billie Bilby and Evie Echidna.
Inspecting odd objects, following clues or comparing discoveries, Wendy loves the thrill of finding something new.
Clever and observant, every day in Ol' Gum Gully feels like a treasure hunt just waiting to begin.
